About The Position

This position provides comprehensive dental chairside assistance across a wide range of dental procedures, including educational, preventative, emergency, restorative, endodontic, pediatric, periodontal, prosthodontic, and oral surgery. The role involves preparing the operatory, managing patient care, maintaining infection control standards, sterilizing equipment, and educating patients on oral health. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for accurate record-keeping, assisting with dental imaging, performing laboratory procedures, and managing provider schedules.

Requirements

  • Certificate of completion of an accredited program in Dental Assisting.
  • Current certification in dental radiology or completion of dental radiology certification within 30 days of position start date.
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Valid, unrestricted insurable driver’s license.
  • Resumes and references are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive dental chairside assistance during various dental procedures.
  • Prepares the dental treatment operatory efficiently and in compliance with infection control practices.
  • Welcomes, escorts, and comforts patients, verifying identification and updating medical history.
  • Adheres to all standards of dental infection control policy and personal protective equipment utilization.
  • Cleans, sharpens, packages, and sterilizes dental equipment and instruments.
  • Performs routine maintenance and clean-up procedures on dental equipment and instruments.
  • Maintains dental inventory of supplies and replenishes as necessary.
  • Recognizes common dental disorders and conditions to perform as directed by dental professionals.
  • Provides thorough patient education regarding oral health, dental diseases, prevention, and treatment options.
  • Recommends oral hygiene aids and motivates patients to improve oral health.
  • Accurately records dental conditions, treatment plans, and rendered treatment notes in patient records.
  • Practices four-handed dentistry technique with all providers.
  • Accurately places rubber dams and clamps, and understands/places other means of isolation.
  • Exposes and digitally mounts diagnostic dental radiographs while limiting radiation exposure.
  • Takes preliminary dental impressions and completes supportive laboratory procedures.
  • Provides oral prophylaxis treatment, including oral hygiene instruction, coronal polishing, sealant placement, and topical fluoride application.
  • Rotates to provide scheduling and comprehensive dental assisting services to dental hygienists.
  • Manages dental provider schedules efficiently, including appointment scheduling and confirmation.
  • Ensures dental consent forms are accurately completed, reviewed, and signed.
  • Demonstrates effective chairside communication with dental providers and team members.
  • Participates in community health programs as assigned.
  • Successfully completes annual radiology re-certification.
  • Actively participates in dental pod and clinic meetings.
  • Upholds and adheres to professional standards of conduct and behavior.
  • Demonstrates commitment to high levels of treatment quality and standards of care.
  • Demonstrates dependability in attendance, punctuality, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Completes assigned clinical duties and responsibilities under supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
