About The Position

McKenney Home Care is seeking experienced Caregivers, HHAs, and CNAs who are confident supporting clients living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other memory-related conditions throughout Sarasota and Charlotte County. This position is best suited for caregivers who understand that dementia care requires patience, consistency, reassurance, observation, and the ability to adjust your approach based on the client’s needs and behaviors.

Requirements

Previous hands-on dementia or Alzheimer’s caregiving experience strongly preferred
HHA certificate, Florida CNA license, or strong professional caregiving experience preferred
Patient, calm, dependable, and able to respond appropriately to challenging behaviors
Strong communication and observation skills
Comfortable working independently in a private home setting
Valid driver’s license
Current auto insurance with you listed as an allowed driver
Reliable transportation
Hands-on CPR certification or willingness to obtain - online is not accepted
TB screening within the last 6 months or X-Ray within the last 5 years
Eligibility for Level 2 AHCA background screening
Dependable attendance, clear communication, professionalism, and flexibility

Nice To Haves

Experience with confusion, memory loss, and repetitive behaviors
Experience with agitation, anxiety, or resistance to care
Experience with redirection and reassurance techniques
Experience maintaining routines and providing a calm environment

Responsibilities

Supporting clients living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other memory-related conditions
Understanding that dementia care requires patience, consistency, reassurance, observation, and the ability to adjust your approach based on the client’s needs and behaviors
Providing personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Assisting with transfers, ambulation, and fall prevention
Recognizing and reporting changes in behavior or condition
Providing companionship and meaningful engagement
Following detailed care plans and family preferences
