About The Position

Burrow Global is seeking to hire an experienced Delta V Instrument loop checker to support an automation project for a petrochemical company in Freeport, TX. This position will last at least four (4) weeks. Candidates for this position will be involved in an ongoing effort to migrate legacy MOD5 control systems to Emerson DeltaV. The primary responsibility is executing instrument loop checks during migration cutovers to verify proper operation of field devices, I/O, and control system functionality following the migration from MOD 5 to DeltaV. The successful candidate will work closely with Process Automation personnel, construction teams, and I/E technicians to perform loop checks in accordance with the company’s procedures. The role utilizes DeltaV Operate, DeltaV Diagnostics, and DeltaV configuration tools to verify loop functionality, identify issues, and perform basic troubleshooting. Configuration changes or programming modifications required during loop verification will be escalated to the project programming team.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of DeltaV configuration, control modules, graphics, and diagnostics sufficient to perform instrument loop checks.
  • Ability to use DeltaV Diagnostics to verify controller, charm, and device status during testing and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of process instrumentation, analog and discrete I/O, field devices, marshalling, and DeltaV hardware architecture.
  • Ability to work extended hours during plant outages, migrations, and startup activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read Dowtran and look up I/O values and status in running MOD 5 system

Responsibilities

  • Verify that instrument loops have been successfully migrated from MOD 5 to DeltaV and are functioning correctly.
  • Perform loop checks using DeltaV Operate, DeltaV Diagnostics, and field verification activities.
  • Troubleshoot basic instrumentation, communications, and I/O issues encountered during testing.
  • Coordinate with operations, construction, and I/E personnel during cutover and startup activities.
  • Accurately document and record loop-check results, punch-list items, and troubleshooting findings.
  • Escalate configuration or control strategy issues requiring programming changes to the project programming team.
  • Loop up I/O values and status in running MOD 5 system
