About The Position

Buck Distributing is seeking an experienced and results-driven Delivery Operations Manager to lead our delivery operations, driver workforce, and customer service execution. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of beverage products while maintaining strong relationships with employees, customers, and internal business partners. The ideal candidate will bring experience leading delivery operations in a fast-paced distribution environment, with a strong understanding of transportation compliance, fleet operations, employee development, and continuous improvement. Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus.

Requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of leadership experience in beverage distribution, transportation, logistics, warehouse operations, route delivery, or a related field.
  • Experience leading delivery drivers, route operations, dispatch functions, and frontline supervisors.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, driver safety, and transportation compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage performance, resolve employee issues, and drive operational results.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in beer, beverage, foodservice, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) distribution.
  • Experience working within a unionized workforce environment or supporting labor-management initiatives.
  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements, grievance procedures, or labor relations practices.
  • Knowledge of fleet operations, route optimization, and delivery planning.
  • Experience leading through organizational growth, change management, or operational integration initiatives.
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or familiarity with CDL driver operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all delivery operations, including route execution, staffing, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Direct a team of delivery supervisors, dispatch personnel, and CDL drivers.
  • Ensure daily deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
  • Monitor operational metrics including service levels, delivery accuracy, productivity, labor costs, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Warehouse, Fleet, Safety, and Customer Service teams to resolve service issues and improve operational performance.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Maintain accountability for departmental performance, service execution, and employee engagement.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and retain high-performing delivery personnel.
  • Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and corrective action discussions as necessary.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and customer service.
  • Address employee concerns and workplace issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop future leaders within the delivery organization through coaching and mentorship.
  • Promote a culture of safety throughout the delivery department.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, company safety policies, and alcohol beverage industry regulations.
  • Partner with Safety and Fleet teams to investigate accidents, monitor driver performance, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Oversee driver qualification files, hours-of-service compliance, training programs, and regulatory audits.
  • Support workers' compensation and return-to-work programs as needed.
  • Assist with organizational initiatives, process improvement projects, and operational planning efforts.
  • Utilize data and reporting tools to identify trends, solve operational challenges, and drive decision-making.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration to improve service, efficiency, and overall business performance.
  • Contribute to long-term operational planning and organizational growth initiatives.
