About The Position

As a Delivery Material Handler, you will work alongside our drivers, ensuring the proper delivery of building materials to job sites using various equipment and methods. Requirements

  • Read, write, and comprehend English or Spanish as required by the branch location.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb.
  • Must lift up to 100 pounds of material continually for up to two hours at a time.
  • Ability to work on multi-story buildings at various heights.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, rain, or shine.
  • Requires a high degree of attention to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain loyalty to Gulfeagle Supply.
  • Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with customer personnel at delivery points.
  • Ability to handle all functions of the job in a safe manner.
  • Must pass substance abuse screening; employees are subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.

  • Knowledge of roofing material and/or construction and distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Loading or assisting in loading and securing materials on trucks daily.
  • Verifying the quantities of materials for accuracy.
  • Assisting the driver in locating the job site.
  • Spotting the driver when backing up into a job site.
  • Directing the driver in the placement of the conveyor.
  • Unloading or assisting in unloading materials by using forklift, crane, conveyor, and/or by hand.
  • Climbing up to a 40-foot ladder to deliver materials on a pitch of up to an 8/12 roof.
  • Ensuring proper stacking and distribution in the placement of materials on the roof.
  • Ensuring the truck is properly equipped for delivery, including filling the cooler, strapping materials, and loading the ladder.
  • Complying with OSHA regulations as they relate to oneself and the company.
  • Assisting in taking inventory quarterly or as needed.
  • Maintaining the warehouse, yard, and trucks in a proper presentable manner, including minor repairs as needed.
  • Safely handling materials, including wearing appropriate safety devices.
  • Aiding in the safe operation of vehicles as it relates to customer and company property.
  • Assisting customers with materials and reporting problems with deliveries or service issues.
