About The Position

The primary functions of the Delivery Helper are to load, locate job sites, backing, preparing and restoring the job site, and preparing the truck for the following day and maintaining the truck and equipment. This role also involves ensuring compliance with company, state, and federal guidelines, particularly OSHA and DOT, for the safety of all personnel. The Delivery Helper performs pre-trip inspections of equipment, paperwork, and loaded product to ensure order accuracy, and safely unloads product and delivers it to assigned areas as directed by the customer. They are responsible for securing mud, equipment, metal, and pallets on the truck and navigating routes to job sites. GMS, a subsidiary of SRS Distribution, operates a network of over 320 distribution centers offering wallboard, ceilings, steel framing, and complementary products, along with nearly 100 tool sales, rental, and service centers, serving residential and commercial contractors across the United States and Canada. Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate information accurately.
  • Stamina to lift at least 75 lbs. in order to carry materials, such as drywall materials and joint compound.

  • Constantly moving from unloading materials from commercial motor vehicles onto job site.
  • Constantly positions self to unload and load materials from flatbed or boom.
  • Frequently moves materials weighing up to 100lbs while unloading and loading flatbed.
  • Must be able to communicate with management and coworkers and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Constantly working in an outside environment while making deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Load, locate job sites, backing, preparing and restoring the job site.
  • Prepare the truck for the following day and maintain the truck and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with company, state and federal guidelines particularly as it relates to OSHA and DOT for the safety of all personnel.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of equipment, paperwork and loaded product to ensure accuracy of order.
  • Safely unload product and deliver to assigned area as directed by the customer.
  • Secure mud, equipment, metal, and pallet on truck.
  • Navigate routes to the job site.
