Delivery Helper
About The Position
The Delivery Helper delivers materials to job sites, reports shortages and claims to supervisor, and assists in loading and storing of materials. Success in this position could lead to other opportunities within the Driver, Warehouse, and Yard functions. This role requires operating safely, participating in a positive work environment, checking orders for accuracy, organizing and securing loads, and obtaining supervisor approval for all loads. The Delivery Helper will also assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse, deliver and unload materials to customer satisfaction, follow guidelines from the supervisor, and provide excellent customer service. Additional duties include assisting in unloading material returned for credit, relaying messages from customers on job sites, assisting the supervisor and other employees as assigned, and assisting the driver in evaluating delivery sites, noting potential hazards, obstacles, and physical challenges, and guiding the driver in maneuvering on and off customer property to avoid damage.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience with delivery, material handling and/or warehouse required.
- Ability to do basic math, read orders, writes instructions and complete forms.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
- Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
- Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
- Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).
Responsibilities

- Perform other duties as assigned.
