About The Position

The Delivery Driver delivers products by car to customers’ doors within a designated delivery area and may make several deliveries per shift. The role also includes delivering flyers, doorhangers, and other marketing materials. In-store duties include operating equipment; stocking ingredients from delivery and storage areas, work areas, and the walk-in cooler; preparing products; receiving and processing telephone orders; taking inventory and completing related paperwork; and cleaning equipment and the facility approximately daily. On-the-job orientation and training are provided.

The position involves communicating with customers and coworkers in person and by telephone, processing orders, handling payments and making correct change, and entering orders by keyboard or touch screen. Drivers need to navigate to customer addresses and handle varied delivery locations and terrain. The work includes extensive standing and hand use, lifting and carrying supplies and orders, and exposure to varying temperatures, weather, food odors, commercial dust, hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving equipment.

Requirements

• Valid driver license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
• Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
• Ability to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
• Ability to navigate adverse terrain and delivery sites, including multistory buildings and private homes.
• Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions.
• Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders by phone and in person.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly, with a calculator if needed, and make correct monetary change.
• Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
• Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
• Motor coordination and eye-hand coordination to make precise, rapid movements and perform continuous hand tasks.
• Ability to work alone and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality-control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
• Ability to lift and handle delivery supplies weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to carry products during walking and climbing duties and navigate five or more flights of stairs when required.
• Ability to distinguish hot and cold surfaces and meet the role’s vision, hearing, and communication needs.
