About The Position

The Delivery Driver delivers products by car to customers’ doors and may deliver flyers, doorhangers, or other marketing materials. The role also includes operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, receiving and processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. Orientation and training are provided on the job.

The position involves working in a food-service store and making deliveries within a designated delivery area. Duties may include handling deliveries of supplies, carrying products to customers, navigating stairs and other delivery-site terrain, and driving in varying weather conditions. The role requires frequent use of hands and coordination, along with periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record meeting company standards.
• Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
• Ability to read maps and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
• Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multistory buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites, while carrying products.
• Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions and communicate verbally with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly and make correct monetary change.
• Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
• Motor coordination and eye-hand coordination to make precise, rapid movements and use hands continuously during the day.
• Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
• Ability to work alone and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality-control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
• Ability to lift and handle deliveries weighing up to 60 pounds and perform the physical activities described, including standing, walking, carrying, pushing, climbing, bending, crouching, and reaching.
• Far and night vision for driving; near and mid-range vision and depth perception for in-store tasks.
• Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Deliver company products by car within a designated delivery area and carry them to customers’ doors.
• Deliver flyers, doorhangers, or other marketing materials.
• Operate equipment and stock ingredients from delivery storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
• Prepare products.
• Receive and process telephone orders, including communicating with customers and coworkers in person and by phone.
• Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
• Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
• Unload ingredient and supply deliveries using a hand truck and store items on shelves.
• Navigate delivery sites, including private homes, multistory buildings, and potentially five or more flights of stairs.
