About The Position

The Delivery Driver provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while delivering products to customers. The role includes collecting payment and making change when needed, returning payments and beginning cash to the store, and maintaining food and groceries at proper temperatures in accordance with food safety standards. The driver is responsible for keeping delivery vehicles clean and helping maintain and upkeep those vehicles. The position also involves supporting other store areas as needed and completing other job-related duties and special projects.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with no DOT restrictions to drive a company vehicle.
Commitment to the Hy-Vee mission and willingness to promote the company’s values.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people in a friendly, professional manner.
Ability to identify problems and develop and execute solutions.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies verbally or in writing.
Ability to see detail at near range, with or without correction.
Physical ability to perform medium work, including occasionally lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds and frequently standing, walking, and lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, handle, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to enter and exit a delivery vehicle many times a day and traverse staircases and other rough terrain to reach delivery destinations.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, showing care, concern, and patience in customer interactions.
Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner throughout the store.
Make an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name when possible.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Deliver products to customers.
Collect payment and make change when necessary.
Return payments and beginning cash to the store.
Maintain food and groceries at proper temperatures in accordance with food safety standards.
Follow department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress, as well as company policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
Assist in other areas of the store as needed and perform other job-related duties and special projects.
Facilitate maintenance and upkeep of delivery vehicles.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and out.
