About The Position

Connor Co. is seeking a career-minded individual for a long-term Delivery Driver/Warehouse/Counter position in Jacksonville, IL. This role involves preparing and operating a delivery truck, loading and unloading products, customer service, warehouse processing, order entry, and vendor communication.

Requirements

Pass a pre-employment background check and drug testing.
Be available to work from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (Illinois Class D license).
Critical thinker, using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions.
Mathematical reasoning- ability to choose the right method or formulas to solve a problem.
Ability to learn Eclipse software.
Must be very detail-oriented and focused on accuracy.
Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines.
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.
Must maintain a patient and professional attitude while managing a busy workload.
Strong organizational skills are required.
Must be able to determine and prioritize workload.
Physical strength to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition, checking fluid levels and tire pressure, and notifying the Branch Manager of required repairs.
Maintains truck operating efficiency by completing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and scheduling repairs.
Loads delivery truck with product securely, avoiding damage.
Delivers items by identifying destinations, establishing a route, operating the truck, unloading items, and maintaining a schedule.
Uses a cell phone to report on the progress of deliveries.
Picks up return items for the company.
Verifies products delivered against the packing slip and obtains customer signature on the receipt.
Serves customers by understanding and resolving or forwarding complaints.
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
Efficiently and effectively loads and unloads trucks.
Inspects materials according to instructions and reports damaged goods.
Processes inbound materials to the warehouse.
Compares quantities shown on the packing slip or manifests with actual items received.
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to sequence.
Ensures materials are placed in the designated area within the warehouse.
Stacks skids or pallets in the designated area.
Cleans up and disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping racks, shelves, pallet area, workstations, and counter area neat, maintaining a clean shipping supply area, and complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Performs general housekeeping: sweeping, mopping, dusting, and emptying trash.
Enters customer orders face-to-face, over the phone, or electronically.
Pulls customer orders and prepares them for pick-up or delivery.
Calls vendors for product pricing and availability.
Places purchase orders with vendors for special order materials.
Follows up with customers and vendors on open orders.
Communicates customer and order issues with salesmen and management.
Communicates with delivery drivers about orders that need to be delivered.
Assists customers in determining product needs.
Researches products and repair parts for customers.
Participates in company and vendor product training in person and electronically.
Processes customer returns and communicates with vendors to obtain return approvals.
Restocks, rotates, and faces counter inventory shelving.
Performs other duties as requested.
