About The Position

Moore Supply Co., a trade name of Hajoca Corporation, is seeking a Delivery Driver Non CDL for their Austin, TX location. Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies, founded in 1858. The company operates in a decentralized environment where each location, called a Profit Center (PC), is run by a Profit Center Manager. Moore Supply Co. is looking for a friendly, detail-oriented, safety-conscious individual who enjoys working independently to join their team.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to various destinations including job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
  • Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered, ensuring the load is properly secured so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck, and that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
  • Understand the shipping documents associated with the merchandise for each delivery and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it, obtaining a legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Load the truck at other locations with merchandise, including merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location, and keep the truck clean of debris in the cab and body.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report at the end of the workday when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location at the end of the workday.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
