About The Position

The Delivery Driver Non CDL is responsible for operating trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations. This role involves loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, collecting payments for cash sales, resolving delivery discrepancies, and providing sales leads. The driver will also perform pre-trip inspections, maintain the truck's cleanliness, report mechanical issues, and complete required safety training. The position requires a detail-oriented and safety-conscious individual who enjoys working independently and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years thereafter.
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations to various destinations.
  • Load Hajoca merchandise onto the truck, ensuring it is properly secured.
  • Ensure necessary equipment for safe unloading is available.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to delivery destinations.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise and place it as directed by the receiving party.
  • Obtain signatures for all delivered merchandise.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies with customers at the delivery site.
  • Load merchandise from other locations, including vendor pickups and customer returns.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer information.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts for safe operating condition before departure.
  • Keep the truck clean.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for vehicles over 10,001 lbs GVWR if a defect is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck and store them in the approved location at the end of the workday.
  • Successfully complete assigned safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
