About The Position

Moore Supply Company, a trade name of Hajoca Corporation, is seeking a Delivery Driver Non-CDL for their Duncanville, TX location. Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies, founded in 1858 and operating on principles of "Service, Integrity, Reliability." The company emphasizes a decentralized business philosophy where each location, known as a Profit Center (PC), is managed like a small business. The Delivery Driver will be responsible for safely operating trucks, loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, collecting payments, resolving customer issues, and performing vehicle inspections. This role requires a friendly, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious individual who enjoys working independently and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to various locations including job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
  • Load Hajoca merchandise onto the truck at the Profit Center, ensuring it is properly secured to prevent shifting, damage, or falling.
  • Ensure necessary equipment for safe unloading is available.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation to ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload the correct merchandise from the truck and place it at the customer's desired location.
  • Obtain legible signatures for all delivered merchandise per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries before releasing materials.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Load the truck with merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, or purchased from other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses encountered during deliveries.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts/accessories for safe operating condition before departing the Hajoca location.
  • Keep the truck clean, both the cab and the body, free of debris.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report at the end of the workday if driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more and a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management.
