About The Position

Moore Supply Company, a trade name of Hajoca Corporation, is seeking a Delivery Driver Non CDL for their Houston, TX location. Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies, founded in 1858. The company operates in a decentralized environment where each location, called a Profit Center (PC), is run by a Profit Center Manager. Moore Supply Company is looking for a friendly, detail-oriented, safety-conscious individual who enjoys working independently to join their team. The pay for this position is between $18 and $22 per hour.

Requirements

Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
Be at least 21 years old
Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
Read, write, speak and understand English.
Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to various destinations including job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise, ensuring it is properly secured to prevent shifting, damage, or falling, and verifying that necessary equipment for safe unloading is available.
Understand shipping documents for each delivery and have accurate directions to each destination.
Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it at the designated location, obtaining a legible signature for all delivered merchandise per Company policy.
Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries before releasing the material to the customer.
Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
Load the truck with merchandise from other locations, including items picked up from vendors, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered during deliveries.
Inspect the truck and its parts/accessories for safe operating condition before departing the Hajoca location, and keep the truck clean.
Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck and complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report if a defect or deficiency is found on vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more at the end of the workday.
Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management.
