About The Position

The Delivery Driver Non CDL is responsible for operating trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations. This role involves loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, collecting payments for cash sales, resolving shipping discrepancies, and providing sales leads. The driver will also perform pre-trip inspections, maintain the truck's cleanliness, report mechanical issues, and complete required safety training.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years
  • Minimum of two (2) years of box truck driving experience
  • Reliable transportation to and from the work location and training site

  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.

  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered, ensuring it is properly secured.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it as directed by the receiving party.
  • Obtain legible signatures for all delivered merchandise.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies.
  • Load the truck with merchandise from vendor locations, customer returns, and other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition.
  • Keep the truck clean of debris in the cab and body.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
