About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies. Founded in 1858, Hajoca operates on principles of "Service, Integrity, Reliability." The company functions in a decentralized environment where each location, called a Profit Center (PC), is managed as a small business. Peabody Supply, a trade name of Hajoca, is seeking a Delivery Driver Non CDL for its Methuen, MA location. The role requires a friendly, detail-oriented, safety-conscious individual who enjoys working independently and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years thereafter.
  • Know the laws, rules, and regulations governing driving motor vehicles, particularly commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Be able to apply and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer-related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to various destinations including job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, or other locations as directed by management.
  • Load Hajoca merchandise onto the truck at the Profit Center, ensuring it is properly secured to prevent shifting, damage, or falling.
  • Ensure necessary equipment for safe unloading is available.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation to ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it as directed by the receiving party, obtaining a legible signature for all delivered merchandise.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries before releasing materials.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies with customers at the delivery site.
  • Load merchandise onto the truck from other locations, including items picked up from vendors, returned by customers, or purchased from other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and its parts for safe operating condition before departure, and keep the truck clean.
  • Report any mechanical problems with the truck to management.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report if driving a vehicle over 10,001 lbs. GVWR and a defect is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete assigned safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor and management.
