About The Position

The Delivery Driver Non CDL is responsible for safely operating trucks and delivering merchandise to various destinations including job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, and facilities of other wholesalers. The role involves loading and securing merchandise, understanding shipping documents, ensuring order accuracy, and obtaining customer signatures for deliveries. The driver will also collect payments for cash sales, resolve shipping discrepancies with customers, and load merchandise picked up from vendors or returned by customers. Additionally, the driver will identify sales leads, maintain the truck's cleanliness and mechanical condition, and complete required safety training. The position requires adherence to company policies, laws, and regulations regarding safe driving and material handling.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive for company business.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered, ensuring it is properly secured.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it as directed by the receiving party.
  • Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing material.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Load the truck at other locations with merchandise from vendors, returns, or other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts/accessories to determine safe operating condition before departure.
  • Keep the truck clean of debris in the cab and body.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Remove keys from the truck and store them in the approved location at the end of the workday.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management.
