About The Position

J & H Aitcheson, a trade name of Hajoca Corporation, is looking for a Delivery Driver- non CDL at their Leesburg, VA location. This role is ideal for someone who is friendly, thrives on providing great customer service, is detail-oriented, safety conscious, and enjoys working independently. The driver will operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, making deliveries to various destinations including job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, and other wholesalers. Responsibilities include loading and securing merchandise, understanding shipping documents, ensuring order accuracy, unloading merchandise, obtaining customer signatures, resolving shipping discrepancies, collecting payments for cash sales, and providing sales leads. The driver will also be responsible for inspecting the truck, reporting mechanical issues, completing inspection reports for vehicles over 10,001 lbs GVWR, and removing keys at the end of the day. Successful completion of assigned safety and compliance training is required, along with performing other reasonably related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
Be at least 21 years old
Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
Read, write, speak and understand English.
Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered.
Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck.
Ensure that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
Understand the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it.
Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
Load the truck at other locations with merchandise.
Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location.
Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body.
Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
At the end of the workday, complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location.
Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
