About The Position

Atlantic Tire Distributors, located in Norfolk, VA is currently seeking a Delivery Driver to join our team! We have warehouses that operate in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee and are growing, so come join our team for an awesome career opportunity. Drive a light vehicle, such as a truck, with a capacity of less than 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), primarily to deliver or pick up tires. May load and unload vehicles; as well as other duties assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • A minimum of one-year commercial driver experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
  • Report on any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
  • Properly document goods delivered or loaded.
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
  • Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations.
  • Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
  • Operate and maneuver company vehicles such as box trucks and delivery vans, following all traffic and safety regulations.
  • Load, unload, secure, and move products safely using hands, arms, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
  • Understand basic warehouse processes including receiving, picking, staging, and inventory handling.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with customers during deliveries and pickups.
  • Perform tasks requiring physical endurance, including lifting, carrying, walking, stooping, and balancing while handling materials.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, team members, and customers via phone, text, email, and in person.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and identify equipment issues to maintain safety and compliance.
  • Plan routes efficiently and manage delivery schedules to meet deadlines and meet customer expectations.
  • Apply practical thinking to address delivery challenges, unexpected delays, or customer concerns.
  • Adhere to safety protocols for vehicle operation, warehouse tasks, and material handling.
