About The Position

The Delivery Driver I is responsible for operating delivery vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to customers. This role involves loading and unloading goods, planning optimal routes, and providing excellent customer service. The driver will also be responsible for vehicle maintenance checks, maintaining delivery records, and communicating effectively with dispatch and supervisors. Compliance with all relevant regulations is essential.

Requirements

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to pass DOT requirements pre-employment and on a random basis as required.
Proven experience as a delivery driver or a similar role.
Excellent driving skills and knowledge of local roads and routes.
Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
Ability to lift and move heavy items.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in handling deliveries and paperwork.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Flexibility to work variable hours and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

Operate delivery vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
Load and unload goods onto the delivery vehicle, ensuring proper handling and securement of items.
Plan delivery routes efficiently to optimize time and fuel consumption, taking into account traffic conditions and delivery schedules.
Execute deliveries according to schedule, delivering goods accurately and promptly to assigned locations.
Provide courteous and professional service to customers upon delivery, handling inquiries, and concerns in a friendly manner.
Maintain accurate delivery records, including proof of delivery, mileage logs, and any relevant paperwork.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on delivery vehicles, reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly.
Maintain open communication with dispatchers and supervisors, providing updates on delivery status and any issues encountered.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including vehicle weight limits, driver hours-of-service regulations, and licensing requirements.
Familiarize yourself with the products being delivered, including handling instructions and special requirements.
