Delivery Driver I
About The Position
This role involves safely operating a company delivery vehicle to complete scheduled customer deliveries within assigned service areas. The driver will be responsible for loading, securing, transporting, and unloading merchandise while adhering to all safety procedures and DOT requirements. A key aspect of the job is providing outstanding customer service during every interaction, resolving routine delivery questions, and escalating issues when necessary. The driver will use handheld technology to manage delivery routes, obtain customer signatures, and document delivery completion. Additionally, the role includes conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, promptly reporting maintenance or safety concerns, and verifying order accuracy to ensure merchandise is delivered in excellent condition. Compliance with company policies, vehicle safety standards, and transportation regulations is mandatory. The position also supports warehouse operations as needed, including pulling, stocking, staging, and inventory-related activities. Collaboration with sales, operations, and customer service teams is essential for a seamless customer experience, and proactive communication regarding delivery delays, route changes, or customer concerns is expected.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- General studies or technical school graduate or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
- Experience operating box trucks or similar commercial vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) between 14,500 and 26,000 pounds.
- Ability to meet all applicable DOT requirements and maintain required medical certification.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise weighing up to 40 pounds, with team - lift support available for heavier items.
- Strong commitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime when business needs require.
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State
Nice To Haves
- Previous route delivery, final- mile delivery, or customer facing delivery experience.
- Experience operating forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
- Retail logistics, or warehouse experience.
- Experience using handheld mobile technology and delivery management systems.
