About The Position

As a Driver Helper at Upper Lakes Foods, you will partner with a Delivery Driver to ensure customers across the Upper Midwest receive the products they need. You will help deliver food products safely, accurately, and on time to various clients including independent restaurants, schools, assisted living facilities, and regional chain accounts. Your role involves supporting deliveries every step of the way, from assisting with unloading products using hand carts and truck ramps, to organizing deliveries and ensuring orders arrive in excellent condition. Maintaining food quality and accuracy is critical, requiring you to work in various environments, including refrigerated and freezer compartments, while adhering to food safety standards. You will verify customer orders, assist with temperature monitoring, and complete required documentation. Safety is paramount, and you will assist with vehicle inspections, identify maintenance concerns, and ensure trucks and trailers are operating safely. You will also help secure loads, navigate delivery locations, and maintain a clean vehicle. As a direct representative of Upper Lakes Foods, you will interact with customers, providing professional, friendly, and respectful service. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, active work and being part of a team, involving standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling products in a fast-paced distribution environment. No previous experience is required, and this role can serve as a pathway to becoming a Delivery Driver.

  • Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
  • Ability to work early morning start times ranging from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM.
  • Ability to work 4-5 days per week, Monday through Saturday.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment lift evaluations (if applicable).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with a Delivery Driver to ensure customers receive products safely, accurately, and on time.

  • Assist with temperature monitoring and required documentation for food safety compliance.
  • Help perform vehicle inspections before and after each route.
  • Identify maintenance concerns and ensure trucks and trailers are operating safely.
  • Assist with securing loads, navigating delivery locations, and maintaining a clean and organized vehicle.
  • Follow company safety policies, DOT regulations, and proper lifting techniques.
  • Interact with customers, providing professional, friendly, and respectful service.
  • Answer customer questions and assist with resolving minor concerns.
  • Spend much of the day standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling products.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 60 pounds.
