About The Position

The Delivery Driver, Culinary Team is an essential member of KIPP NYC's Culinary Team, responsible for ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of meals, equipment, and supplies that support meal service across KIPP NYC schools. Reporting to the Director of Operations, Culinary Team, this role transports fresh, scratch-cooked meals from KIPP NYC's production kitchens to satellite school locations while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and quality. In addition to meal delivery, the Delivery Driver supports kitchen operations by transporting equipment and supplies, assisting with meal service when needed, and contributing to the day-to-day operational success of the Culinary Team. This role requires a dependable, customer-focused professional who values teamwork, takes pride in delivering excellent service, and understands the important role nutritious meals play in supporting students' learning, well-being, and success. This is a full-time, in-person position requiring on-site work five days per week. The role is based at one of our KIPP NYC campuses across the Bronx, Brooklyn, or Manhattan. Your primary work location will be determined by your leadership team.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Ability to safely operate delivery vehicles while following all applicable traffic laws and food transportation regulations.
  • Fundamental understanding of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness practices, or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to maintain an efficient delivery schedule while adapting to changing operational priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in delivery services, logistics, warehouse operations, facilities, commercial kitchens, or food distribution preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport prepared meals from KIPP NYC production kitchens to assigned school locations according to established delivery schedules.
  • Ensure meals are delivered on time while maintaining all required food safety and temperature standards.
  • Deliver dry goods, kitchen supplies, equipment, and other materials to school sites and production kitchens as needed.
  • Load, unload, and transport food, equipment, and supplies safely and efficiently.
  • Support meal service at delivery locations when operational needs require additional assistance.
  • Assist with the assembly, transportation, setup, and breakdown of food preparation and storage equipment.
  • Support kitchen and operational teams with deliveries related to catering events, special initiatives, and department projects.
  • Complete operational tasks that support the efficiency of the Culinary Team across multiple school locations.
  • Assist with stocking supplies, organizing storage areas, and maintaining inventory as needed.
  • Support other areas of food production and service based on operational priorities.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and routine upkeep of delivery vehicles, food transport equipment, carts, and storage containers.
  • Monitor vehicles and equipment for maintenance or repair needs and promptly communicate issues to the Director of Operations.
  • Perform light maintenance and minor repairs to equipment when appropriate.
  • Ensure delivery vehicles and transport equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
  • Work collaboratively with Head Chefs, Sous Chefs, kitchen teams, and school staff to ensure seamless meal service.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues across schools and production kitchens.
  • Provide excellent customer service while interacting with school staff and regional teams.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting additional operational needs across kitchens and school sites.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
