About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is seeking a Delivery Driver CDL for their Gorman Company trade name at their Leesburg, FL location. This role involves operating trucks safely and in compliance with all regulations, loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, collecting payments for cash sales, resolving shipping discrepancies with customers, and maintaining the truck. The driver will also be responsible for noting prospective customer leads, performing pre-trip inspections, reporting mechanical issues, and completing required safety training. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) for the vehicle(s) being driven, with hazmat endorsement if operating a vehicle that requires placarding for hazardous materials.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
  • Be able to safely operate any delivery vehicle, including commercial motor vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations to various destinations including job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
  • Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered, securing the load properly to prevent shifting, damage, or falling. Ensure necessary equipment for safe unloading is available.
  • Affix appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials in excess of 1,000 lbs.
  • Understand shipping documents associated with merchandise for each delivery and have accurate directions to each destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it as directed by the receiving party, obtaining a legible signature for all delivered merchandise per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing material to the customer.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Load the truck at other locations with merchandise, including items picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered during deliveries.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure. Keep the truck clean.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck. At the end of the workday, complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if any defect or deficiency is found.
  • At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
