The Deli Manager directs the operation of the service deli, including supervising and training personnel. This role involves ordering merchandise and ensuring customer service, product quality, freshness, safety, and selection. The manager champions Company and Division customer service programs, handles customer relations, and promotes Albertson's philosophy of personalized service. Key duties include supervising daily functions, conducting inspections to ensure compliance with product standards, assisting with all service deli tasks like receiving, cleaning, preparing, cooking, slicing, and packaging. The manager is also responsible for implementing promotional displays, controlling shrink and expenses, completing and monitoring daily paperwork, maintaining records, and managing inventory to ensure adequate levels and prevent the sale of out-of-code products. This position requires maintaining and organizing the service deli work area, cooler, and freezer, ensuring proper merchandising, complying with retail labeling laws and health/food safety standards, and handling re-worked and reduced-to-clear items. Customer interaction includes taking special orders, making product suggestions, suggestive selling, and intercom announcements. The manager ensures cleanliness and sanitation of the sales floor, work areas, equipment, and retail cases, assists with incoming calls, resolves customer complaints, and reports to the Store Director. Additionally, the role involves implementing emergency procedures, scheduling associates, ensuring proper training, monitoring performance, and maintaining confidentiality.
