About The Position

The Deli Manager is responsible for overseeing all deli department operations, including food preparation, customer service, inventory management, staffing, and compliance with food safety regulations. The Deli Manager leads the team to ensure fresh, high-quality products and an outstanding shopping experience for customers, while also meeting sales, labor, and shrink goals.

Requirements

  • Previous deli or food service experience required; deli management experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., ServSafe certification is a plus).
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and early morning or evening shifts.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily deli operations including slicing, cooking, prepping, packaging, and merchandising.
  • Maintain high standards for food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness in compliance with health department regulations.
  • Order products, manage inventory levels, and ensure proper stock rotation and freshness.
  • Train, schedule, and supervise deli team members; promote teamwork and enforce company policies.
  • Ensure deli displays are visually appealing, fully stocked, properly labeled, and attractively merchandised.
  • Prepare and serve deli foods including meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, and hot case items.
  • Provide outstanding customer service; respond to customer questions, special orders, and complaints professionally.
  • Monitor and control shrink, waste, labor costs, and department expenses.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and maintain accurate records.
  • Work with store leadership to plan and execute promotions, seasonal offerings, and catering orders.
