About The Position

This role supports the Deli Manager in the daily operations of the service deli, ensuring high standards of customer service, product quality, and operational efficiency. The Assistant Deli Manager is responsible for assisting with all deli duties, including food preparation, merchandising, inventory management, and staff supervision, while adhering to all company policies and safety regulations.

  • Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks, six-wheel carts, and pallet jacks.
  • Perform repetitious arm movement to decorate, prepare, and package products.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to operate kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Knowledge of taste, content, and perishability of products, safety and sanitation procedures, and department policies and procedures.
  • Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order products, plan sales, input inventory and schedules, and print labels.
  • Utilize cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize safety cutters and knives.
  • Requires use of latex and heat resistance gloves.
  • Knowledge of profit and loss statements.
  • May be required to work nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Scheduled hours will vary.
  • Good attendance is required.
  • Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to cooking procedures, equipment, and work aids necessary to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Champion company and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals.
  • Handle customer relations in a positive manner, including effective resolution of customer complaints.
  • Promote Albertson’s philosophy of personalized service in the service deli.
  • Assist the Deli manager in day-to-day functions of the service deli.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all service deli sections and initiate corrective measures to ensure compliance with product quality, rotate products, maintain in-stock conditions, code date standards, temperature, sanitation, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with all service deli duties such as receiving, cleaning, preparing, cooking, slicing, and packaging.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Control shrink and expenses.
  • Accurately complete and monitor daily log sheet, purchase report, sales and labor, and other required paperwork and logs.
  • Maintain records on ad items movement.
  • Order, check, receive, and control inventory to ensure adequate proper inventory level, product quality and freshness, and to prevent the sale of out-of-code product.
  • Take periodic inventories, process administrative paperwork, and maintain accurate department records.
  • Maintain and organize the service deli work area, cooler, and freezer.
  • Ensure proper merchandising of product by understanding and implementing schematics, merchandising of advertised items, proper signing procedures, and monitoring product flow.
  • Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and Company policies.
  • Follow Company policy in handling re-worked and reduced-to-clear items.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local health and food safety standards.
  • Assist customers by taking and filling special orders.
  • Make product suggestions and engage in suggestive selling.
  • Make intercom announcements.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of sales floor and work area, freezer and cooler, equipment, and retail cases.
  • Assist with answering and responding to incoming calls appropriately.
  • Receive and appropriately resolve customer complaints and report to the Store Director as appropriate.
  • Assist with implementing emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
  • Schedule service deli associates to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Ensure that all associates are trained and instructed in the proper performance of work duties.
  • Monitor associate performance and report observations to the Store Director.
  • Report associate complaints to the Store Director and assist with resolution.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning associates, store sales, and other Company information.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
