About The Position

The Deli Cook will be responsible for day-to-day customer service, cooking, and cleaning the deli area. This role requires maintaining the deli menu and preparing equipment and food for the following shift/day. The position involves performing daily stocking and inventory of food for the weekly menu, assisting managers as requested, and preparing, cooking, serving, and discarding expired food products. The Deli Cook will also be responsible for recognizing ways to reduce food waste and utilize leftovers, preparing the purchase and requisition of all food, beverages, and supplies for the deli, and establishing and enforcing sanitation practices. Adherence to the scheduled workweek, maintaining a clean deli area (internally and externally) with deep cleaning twice a month, and attending all required training are also key responsibilities. The role requires reliability and promptness when reporting to work, attending job-related meetings and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge, and adhering to tribal law and personnel policies. Additionally, the Deli Cook must be able to obtain and maintain a Food Handlers Certificate and pass Class C PASS certifications. These duties and responsibilities are a general representation and may be subject to change based on organizational needs or supervisor direction.

Requirements

  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  • Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays.
  • High School Diploma preferred. If no HSED OR GED candidate must pass a proficiency test.
  • Must have some cooking experience.
  • Must maintain good personal hygiene which is essential in performing assigned duties.
  • Basic math skills a must ability to break down recipes.
  • Must submit to periodic communicable diseases’ screenings and maintain a non-communicable disease status. (Such as TB and Hepatitis A)
  • Prefer employees to be over the age of 21.
  • Candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have knowledge of proper inventory handling and ordering procedures.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of daily sales, prepare deposit reports, and monitor cash flow for overages and shortages.
  • Must be customer oriented, honest, and reliable.
  • Candidate must be customer oriented to be able to work with the general public.
  • Ability to operate cash register, handle money, checks, charge cards and etc. is required.
  • Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.
  • Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.
  • Candidate must be reliable and be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating schedule and any other emergencies as needed.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.

Responsibilities

  • Must attend all training as required by the employer.
  • Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  • Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
  • Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  • Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Must be able to pass the Class C PASS certifications.
