About The Position

The Deli Clerk is responsible for slicing, packaging, weighing, and selling various deli products, including meats and cheeses. This role involves maintaining the presentation and cleanliness of the deli department, including display cases, and providing assistance to Members. Team Members are expected to uphold club policies and procedures, act with honesty and integrity, prioritize member satisfaction, ensure a safe and positive environment, embrace diversity, work collaboratively, and maintain a friendly and positive attitude. They are also tasked with delivering service excellence, resolving member concerns, and adhering to daily GOLD Member and Club Standards, as well as understanding departmental performance reporting.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in a deli department preferred.
• Prior experience operating manual/power slicers and scales preferred.
• Knowledge of deli products preferred.

Responsibilities

• Slice, package, weigh, and sell various deli products, including meats and cheeses.
• Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the deli, including deli display cases.
• Provide assistance to Members in the deli department, answering questions and recommending deli items.
• Answer Member calls and take special orders.
• Help Members select the correct products and sample product to assist in purchasing decisions.
• Prepare and package special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments.
• Display, stock, rotate, and store deli products following food safety, food freshness, and product handling policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all products are fresh and meet company quality standards.
• Check for out-of-date products daily and follow appropriate product salvage policies and procedures.
• Ensure deli cooler shelves and deli display cases have a wide variety of product.
• Stock and rotate deli items when necessary.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces throughout the department, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
• Ensure scale systems are in working order and items are weighed and priced accurately.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Ensure regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support the application of club policies, procedures and compliance.
• Act with honesty and integrity and lead with the member in mind to address any and all concerns and to escalate any concerns, as appropriate.
• Ensure a safe and positive environment for our members and each other.
• Embrace inclusion and diversity, by working together with collaboration and respect.
• Work as a team to achieve goals and deliver GOLD club standards daily.
• Maintain visible accurate signage and ensure the club is clean and organized, inside and out.
• Understand how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for your department.
