The Deli Clerk is responsible for providing an exceptional shopping experience and a friendly and welcoming environment for all customers and co-workers. This role involves greeting and interacting with customers, assisting them in locating products, and ensuring prompt, helpful, and attentive service. The clerk prepares various hot and cold food items, including beverages, sandwiches, wraps, salad dressings, dips, and spreads, following established sanitation and food handling procedures. Key duties include aesthetically merchandising and stocking cases, shelves, and displays with fresh, high-quality product, ensuring all prepared food cases are clean, stocked, rotated, and appealing. The Deli Clerk also pulls expired product, processes special orders, maintains a clean and organized workstation, washes dishes, sanitizes equipment, manages backstock, and assists with receiving product deliveries. They are expected to learn about products, membership benefits, answer phones, and participate in cross-training and new employee on-the-job training as delegated by department supervision. Adherence to California Health and Safety Code requirements for sanitation and safe food handling is essential.
