About The Position

The Deli Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers. This role involves preparing the Deli/Prepared Foods department for store opening and closing, assisting customers with product selection, sharing product knowledge, and making recommendations based on customer needs. The clerk will also prepare, cut, wrap, weigh, tare, price, and present Deli/Prepared Foods products, as well as stock and maintain cases and stations. Responsibilities include processing made-to-order and special order items accurately, assisting with food preparation and production, and ensuring products are stocked, rotated, and faced with attention to quality and expiration dates. The role also involves receiving and unloading merchandise, checking its quality, count, and condition, and communicating any issues to management or the merchandising team. Exceptional customer service, including a positive attitude, respect for others, and flexibility, is a key expectation.

Requirements

  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use of hands; hands to finger; and handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close and color vision.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
