About The Position

The Deli Bakery Associate provides quality customer service in the Deli Bakery Department. The role maintains department standards in accordance with the standard practice manual, maximizes sales through excellent customer service, and minimizes shrink through proper use of standard practices. The associate supports product ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display, while ensuring sanitation, safe food handling, and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. The associate also completes required training and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and the technical requirements of the job.
Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.
Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
Ability to bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to stand 100% of the time and frequently walk short distances.
Ability to handle substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials.
Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level and occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist level.
Ability to meet established volume activity standards for the position.
Ability to tolerate working in extreme hot or cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Responsibilities

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast, friendly, and accurate service to create a positive shopping experience.
Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
Follow technical manuals for product processing, label placement, and related procedures.
Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise follow company policies and guidelines.
Maintain proper department and equipment sanitation and follow food handling and preparation requirements.
Understand and use company tools, including the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO).
Understand and adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures.
Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.
Report associate and customer accidents according to established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Wear the Food Lion uniform and name badge while on duty, maintain a neat and clean appearance, and follow the Food Lion dress code.
Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
