About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties related to the deli department and assists in fulfilling customer orders at the deli counter with professional and efficient service. This position will also assist our Meat and Seafood departments as needed.

Requirements

• Demonstrates proper phone etiquette while taking orders/messages
• Ability to write legibly and read with comprehension at a level where it applies to this position
• Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Moderate physical activity.
• Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing, and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Operates a deli/cheese slicer
• Prepares, packages, and prices product as directed
• Assists customers with orders placed at deli counter
• Stocks and rotates merchandise as directed
• Maintains a current knowledge of product
• Provides assistance to meat and seafood departments as needed
• Provides excellent customer service
• Abides by Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy
• Maintains a clean and organized work area free of hazards
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
• Samples product at the direction of the department manager
