About The Position

The Trim Shop Operator is responsible for organizing, building, and bundling all trim orders daily. They are required to read sales orders and prioritize their daily workload to ensure that all jobs for the current day are completed. They should have the ability to run the brake, shear, and trim roll former. As a Team Member at Tri County Metals, you will be involved in Team Member Development, Growth, & Engagement. This includes teaching and using 6E’s during every customer encounter, following the Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Core values, exemplifying core values “Do Your PART”, teaching “The TCM Way” by attitude, actions, and words, committing to Standard Operating Procedures and the Team Member Handbook, completing required monthly training, and participating in monthly one-on-ones, quarterly touch-bases, and annual assessments to develop and execute a growth plan. You will also implement an improved operating rhythm to drive employee engagement and development by attending Weekly Level 10 Team Meetings and participating in required monthly training.

Requirements

  • Full understanding of each machine, position, and duty of the trim shop.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Able to stand, stretch, bend, kneel, and sit for long periods.
  • Knowledge of basic math, addition, and subtraction.
  • Able to read a tape measure.
  • Able to identify the different colors of metal.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask with accuracy.
  • Ability to learn products and proper installation knowledge.
  • Team focused - Work well with other staff to get the desired results.
  • Service-Oriented - Actively looking for ways to help people and processes.
  • Problem solver, critical thinker, handling multiple issues at the same time.
  • Active listener, communicator, strong people skills and conflict resolution.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds unassisted.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing, building, and bundling all trim orders daily.
  • Reading sales orders and prioritizing daily workload to ensure all jobs for the current day are completed.
  • Running the brake, shear, and trim roll former.
  • Teaching and using 6E’s during every customer encounter.
  • Following the Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Core values.

  • Committing to Standard Operating Procedures and Team Member Handbook 100% of the time.
  • Completing required monthly training.
  • Participating in monthly one-on-ones, quarterly touch-bases and annual assessments with their lead/leader to develop and execute a growth plan.
  • Attending the Weekly Level 10 Team Meetings.
  • Following all safety procedures, equipment manuals and all required safety measures for work in a warehouse environment.
  • Maintaining and cleaning assigned equipment daily (forklift, brake, shear, roll-former, workstation, tables, slitter, and/or truck).
  • Keeping the work area clean, organized, and free of any obstructions.
  • Reporting any tool/equipment issues to Team Lead.
  • Ensuring pre-operations inspections are being completed, and any issues are reported to Team Lead and Maintenance.
  • Timely near miss and incident reporting.
  • Ensuring Team Members complete 100% OTC of assigned safety training.
  • Participation in toolbox conversations.
  • Number of safety observations reported through Bright Idea submissions.
  • Ensuring proper PPE is being used at all times.
  • Number of issues addressed via the safety committee.
  • Quickly reporting accidents and injuries following all safety and emergency procedures, noting all details surrounding these events and reporting to Team Lead.
  • Keeping up on materials needed to complete orders (coil, flats, plastic, and/or any other items needed to complete orders).
  • Entering product information into production equipment, verifying proper cuts.
  • Verifying and inspecting coil, flats, and machine for correct color, gauge, profile, and number of bundles needed to complete each job for a new sales order.
  • Ensuring that the color/spangle, gauge, and vendor match a previous order if the order is an add-on.
  • Completing all orders by the scheduled completion time.
  • Understanding Quality Control Standards and notifying management when products are not up to specifications.
  • Ensuring all orders are quality controlled checked with the Quality Assurance process applied.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate production of various trim designs following all procedures laid out for production and the specific requirements of each ticket.
  • Operating brake, shear, and roll-former machines while following safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Noting when flat sheet inventory levels are low and notifying the Assistant Manufacturing Team Leader – Trim.
  • Operating the forklift while following safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Assisting with items delivered to the warehouse, noting items received and confirming to Purchasing accurate reports of items received.
  • Noting and reporting scrap items, miss-cut items, returns and damaged items daily.
  • Noting and reporting the number of items completed daily.
  • Assisting with loading customer vehicles and company vehicles with produced items.
  • Driving Customer Service Improvements via operating rhythm, leadership and measurables.
