About The Position

Empire State University is seeking a Degree and Transfer Specialist in the Office of the Registrar. The chosen candidate will work as part of a team whose primary responsibilities include evaluating and applying transfer credit to student records, creating and maintaining student degree audits and providing guidance regarding policy and procedures for the aforementioned to the university community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in higher education.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team in a dynamic and adaptable work environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience utilizing student information software, particularly Banner and Degree Works.
  • Experience working in a distributed environment.
  • Experience with transfer credit and/or degree audit.
  • Demonstrated system-level thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with an adult student population.
  • Prior knowledge of and experience working with bilingual and emergent bilingual learners, particularly in online settings.
  • Prior experience working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating transferability of prior learning from regionally accredited colleges, military experience; non-collegiate sponsored instruction evaluated by ACE and/or NCCRS, and other pre-evaluated professional learning.
  • Working with the transfer team to create course equivalencies with input from faculty, assisting in the maintenance of the articulation tables, and applying transfer credit to student records.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of undergraduate student degree audits using Degree Works.
  • Supporting academic review by researching answers and responding to questions regarding transfer credit and degree audit.
  • Providing support within the office regarding technology for transfer and degree audit processes, including assisting with the transition to new technologies.
  • Working as part of a team and assisting with specific projects as assigned.
