About The Position

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is seeking a mid-level associate with 3+ years of experience to join its Florida team, focusing on general litigation and premises liability. The role is based in Florida, with a preference for Miami. This position offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated, high-stakes defense matters for leading domestic and international insurers throughout Florida and nationwide, as part of a nationally recognized litigation and insurance powerhouse. The firm boasts numerous national and metro rankings, including Tier 1 for Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants in its Miami office and Chambers USA Band 2 for its Florida Insurance: Dispute Resolution practice. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Florida State Bar and in good standing.
  • 3+ years of experience in general litigation and tort defense.
  • Experience handling matters in Florida, and/or federal courts.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and client service orientation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in general and premise liability matters in Florida, and federal courts.
  • Manage cases from inception through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct depositions, attend hearings, and participate in mediations & settlement negotiations.
  • Develop litigation strategies and provide legal analysis on complex matters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient case management and high-quality client service.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and communicate case developments effectively.
