The Dedicated Capacity Planner is responsible for analyzing and managing costs associated with capacity planning, including rail costs, equipment, and truck plans to maximize margins. This role seeks opportunities to reduce costs while achieving service and efficiency goals. The planner will analyze Driver Optimization solutions and assign loads to Company truck capacity in compliance with federal safety regulations, such as “Hours of Service” Federal Regulations, geographic considerations, and equipment constraints to maximize driver utilization. They will also negotiate competitive spot rates for drayage services, contribute to the development of the market plan, and be responsible for the daily execution of all inbound and outbound shipments within an assigned geographic territory or account specific customer. Re-optimization of loads will be necessary to address delays, equipment failures, or driver issues, ensuring customer on-time service requirements are met. The planner will monitor operational performance against capacity plans, identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions. They will be accountable for meeting established metrics, including loaded miles, driver utilization, service, safety, and cost per load. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Account Management and Operations, is crucial to confirm capacity coverage in advance of anticipated customer forecasts. Communication of capacity plans and changes to relevant stakeholders is also a key responsibility. Additional off-hours support for site-specific operations, such as fuel, hotel, and accident reporting, may be required, along with assigned projects and reporting requirements by the Central Dedicated Manager.
