About The Position

Under the supervision of the teacher, the One-to-One Aide provides support and monitoring services as specified in the students’ Individualized Education Plan (IEP) enabling the student to be involved in and progress in class. This position has no autonomy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6-month experience with children or adolescents in group settings.
  • Knowledge of all standard operating procedures, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Skill and ability to interact with students, peers, leadership, and other stakeholders in an effective and professional manner.
  • Skill and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries.
  • Technologically competent, including working knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook and Google.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accompany students to all classes as necessary.
  • Always monitor student’s whereabouts.
  • Accompany students to time-out when necessary.
  • Monitor student’s inappropriate conversations.
  • Monitor student’s behavior statistics as necessary.
  • Escort students to and from the bus.
  • Escort student to individual therapy session.
  • Escort student to group therapy session.
  • Accompany student to lunchroom.
  • Accompany students on off-site visits as necessary.
  • Accompany students on field trips.
  • Accompany students on recreational and leisure activities off-site.
  • Implement strategies recommended by program team or other agencies.
  • Monitor/review student’s behavior with student’s individual therapist.
  • Maintain a daily log on student’s behavior/progress.
  • Coordinate function and responsibilities as student’s escort with each academic staff member.
  • Coordinates functions and responsibilities as student’s escort with therapeutic staff.
  • Coordinates functions and responsibilities as student’s escort with recreational therapist.
  • When at all possible, if difficulties, explosive situations, and behavior can be predicted, coordinate alternative activities for the student.
  • Provide individualized support necessary as specified in the student’s IEP.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
