About The Position

The Inclusion Associate (Dedicated Aide/Paraprofessional) is a member of the Student Services Team. They work in collaboration with lead classroom teachers to support students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The student assigned to the Dedicated Aide/Inclusion Associate/Dedicated Aide/Paraprofessional remain the primary responsibility of the classroom teacher; the Aide is present to provide behavioral and/or academic support to his/her assigned student’s overall educational outcomes and to facilitate the assigned student’s long-term independence.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or 48 college credits or passed the Paraprofessional PRAXIS Exam required.
  • At least 1 year of direct work with children aged 3-12 years old required.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an independent solutions-oriented problem-solver
  • Willing, hard-working attitude with a growth mindset toward self, students, and colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of personal work and the school mission

  • Strong communication skills required in order to effectively engage with teachers, staff, parents, and children

  • Employment subject to TB test, fingerprinting and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English and Spanish are strongly preferred.
  • Experience in an urban school setting and familiarity with Responsive Classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the creation of environments and instructional opportunities that meet the needs of the assigned student
  • Provides behavioral and/or academic supports to assigned student’s
  • Consistently implements behavioral and academic strategies outlined in the assigned student’s IEP
  • Gathers and maintains academic and behavioral data; maintains anecdotal notes
  • Keeps other members of the classroom teaching team, appropriate service providers, and families informed of progress and challenges regarding the student
  • Collaborates with the teaching team to evaluate instructional effectiveness and to modify instructional approaches based on feedback

  • Actively participates in professional development opportunities provided and seeks out additional professional development
