About The Position

Marine Group Boat Works is seeking entry-level Deckhands with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn. Prior industry expertise is not necessary; training will be provided. Deckhands must remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment and assist with vessel preparations. Performance is evaluated by management and peer feedback, and high performers may be selected to learn new skills. Deckhands are expected to uphold high standards of guest and crew safety and conduct themselves courteously and professionally at all times. The role requires availability for evenings, weekends, and most holidays.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to pass random drug and alcohol screenings; pre-employment and ongoing random drug testing is required.
Excellent communication skills.
Receptive to working nights, weekends, and major holidays.
May be required to apply for a Transportation Worker Identification Card.
Must be able to lift, pull, or push 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, rotate, and reach frequently.
Ability to ascend and descend stairs or ladders safely.
Ability to maneuver through, in, and around small or confined areas within the vessel.
Must maintain static and dynamic standing balance to complete job duties.
Positive attitude, teamwork, strong work ethic, and desire to learn.

Responsibilities

Provide enthusiastic hospitality and assistance to guests.
Handle lines necessary for mooring the vessel.
Stand watch and tour decks to maintain passenger and vessel safety.
Assist the Captain during emergencies and effectively use safety equipment.
Follow safety procedures to protect passengers, crew, and the vessel.
Perform general maintenance such as mopping, sweeping, trash removal, and bathroom servicing.
Load or unload materials, such as trash, from the vessel.
Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.
Participate in routine safety and emergency preparedness drills.
Be prepared to begin work at the scheduled time.
Perform other duties as assigned.
