Shaver Transportation Company, a family-owned and operated regional tug and barge company with a fleet of 16 tugs and 22 barges, is seeking a Deckhand. Founded in 1880, Shaver is the oldest continuously operating family-owned company on the west coast and focuses on ship assist, bulk commodity transportation, harbor/marine services, and emergency response and rescue. This role involves working on scheduled shifts (Dayshift, Swing Shift, Graveyard Shift) and also requires availability for unscheduled "call out" work with little notice, which is compensated with a minimum of 4 hours overtime pay. The company also utilizes double crewed tugs with a week on/week off schedule (up to 7-day trips) and Intermittent Double Crew (IDC) tugs, where crewing can start any day of the week and lasts no more than seven days unless extended by the crew. Deckhands have the opportunity for advancement to the wheelhouse training program after meeting Coast Guard timelines for license upgrades and passing required tests, typically within three to five years.
