About The Position

This job is responsible for coordinating decedent care processes, including but not limited to processing decedent care paperwork, verifying documentation in the electronic medical record, providing direction and confirmations for autopsies, handling body transfers and releases, sending sympathy cards, and triaging spiritual care support. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4 years of relevant experience
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including a professional attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, administration, nurses, and support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieves and reviews decedent care information.
  • Work with pathology to complete any autopsies.
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately with other departments, staff, providers, and leadership.
  • Resolves issues that arise related to job specific functions.
  • Develops and compiles reports, logs, statistics, and any other documents as needed.
  • Reviews and processes all decedent care paperwork and autopsy requests in a timely manner.
  • Supports spiritual care team in caring for patients, families, and staff through projects, initiatives, and other materials, including bereavement.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
