About The Position

This position is responsible for the safe operation of the finishers, heat exchangers and decanters. The Decanter operator is responsible for ensuring the product sent from the mash cooler to decanter to Pasteurizers 1 & 2 meet the CCP1 guidelines for temperature and flow rate. If the temperature is not within control limits, then the Decanter operator must stop the process and notify the Production and Maintenance Supervisor as well as the Manufacturing and QA Managers. Follow all SunRype Food Safety guidelines and Personal Health, Hygiene and GMP’s.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to carry 25 pounds up and down 21 stairs.
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours during a shift minus breaks and lunch.
  • Must be able to work in hot, humid and/or cold conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, squat, crawl, kneel, reach above shoulders, climb ladders and crawl in tight and awkward workplaces for long periods of time.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience as a decanter operator preferred.
  • Able to work any shift, overtime and any or all days of the week in accordance with plant needs.
  • Knowledge and awareness of proper lifting techniques.
  • Knowledge and awareness of chemicals used for CIP and proper PPI while using them.
  • Knowledge and awareness of augers and how to maintain covers and guards.
  • Knowledge and proper use of lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Proper operation of the decanter, finisher, and pasteurizer processes both on the delivery side of this equipment as well as the waste removal process.
  • Watch the Mash cooler for 20 minutes of the start-up to ensure no issues.
  • Conduct proper CIP on pasteurizers 1&2 and 1 hour flush to filter tanks as well as to finishers.
  • Change finisher bins.
  • Perform critical valve changes to send product to correct vessels.
  • Move pumice truck when full and ensure pumice pumps and augers are working.
  • Ability to drive forklift.
