Deburr Technician
About The Position
National Oilwell Varco (NOV) is a leading provider of technology, equipment, and services to the global oil and gas industry. NOV Rig Technologies makes and supports the world’s most advanced drilling solutions. NOV Pressure Control Group is currently recruiting for two Deburr Technicians to join our team. The main responsibilities of this role include setting up and operating all equipment required to turn, broach, and balance impellers. This role requires operating air-powered tools, cleaning and polishing parts, cleaning and gauging threads, blending blemishes while maintaining tolerance/finish requirements, operating forklifts and overhead cranes, and working in tight spaces and from heights when required. Behavioral competencies include being safety-oriented, having good housekeeping skills, and strong work ethics. Technical competencies include the ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, sketches, and bills of material, read and follow shop routers and work instructions, use inspection gauges like calipers and micrometers, and operate a radial arm drill press.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior machine shop experience working in deburr, grinding, buffing, and blending finish machines parts.
- Able to read and understand blueprints, drawings, sketches, and bills of material
- Read and follow shop routers and work instructions
- Use inspection gauges to ensure quality parts, i.e., caliper, micrometer, profilometer etc.
- Operate radial arm drill press

Responsibilities
- Read and comprehend blueprint on work piece.
- Lift, position and secure work piece as needed to turn or balance.
- Make manual adjustments by grinding or drilling.
- Check and inspect work for conformity to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Assist in a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed.
- Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Work under immediate supervision.
- Perform other work related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Willing to work overtime and weekends when needed, sometimes on short notice.
- Safely operate air powered tools, i.e.: die grinders, right angle grinders, air drills etc.
- Clean, polish, and remove burrs from manufactured parts
- Clean and Gauge threads
- Blend blemishes/imperfections while maintaining tolerance/finish requirements
- Safely operate forklift and overhead cranes
- Able to work in tight spaces and from heights when required.
- Set up and operate all equipment required to turn, broach and balance impellors.
