About The Position

Performs routine and operational financial analysis, reporting, and systems development in support of other financial activities within the institution. Performs commitment analysis, variance analysis (actual vs budget); revenue and expense projections/forecasts. May have interactions outside department, as functionally required. The position performs financial, investment, compliance, and accounting analysis. The role supports the effective management and reporting of the University’s operating investment portfolio. The position also supports the debt issuance process, tracking of private use, and continuing disclosure requirements. Responsibilities of the position include preparing financial reports, updating accounting schedules, supporting compliance activities, and assisting with fiscal year-end financial statement preparation and audit review. The role prepares and analyzes financial information and makes recommendations for management review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and accounting principles.
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Applicant must be eligible to work in the United States; ASU will not be a sponsor for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • One year of auditing, accounting, or financial experience preferred.
  • Experience with municipal or higher education debt.
  • Experience with municipal or higher education investments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize materials for Investment Committee meetings.
  • Prepare monthly accounting journals.
  • Prepare year-end audit workpapers and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and submit reports to debt rating agencies.
  • Prepare and disseminate monthly investment report for University leadership.
  • Prepare and disseminate other reports as needed.
  • Analyze and monitor private use across University facilities.
  • Conduct annual space-use surveys to track and evaluate private use activity.
  • Coordinate information for debt issuance documents.
  • Review debt issuance documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with continuing disclosure obligations, including assisting with posting of disclosure.
  • Ensure compliance with arbitrage rebate requirements.
