About The Position

The Debone Technician is responsible for performing all Debone production work on a rotation basis. This role involves participating as a member of the team, contributing to ongoing development and communication of team concepts, and fostering cohesiveness within the team. The technician must be familiar with Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, and office environment policies, and understand their role in supporting these systems. The position requires the ability to work in a cold environment and stand/move for extended periods, performing various physical activities. The job description is intended to guide activities and encourage creativity, not limit the scope of work.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in a cold environment down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Required to stand/move about for 8-10 hours a day.
• Must be able to perform the required duties of the job including but not limited to: reaching, standing, moving about, and/or lifting.
• Constant moving about; bending - twisting of the neck; simple grasping; fine manipulation/feeling; reaching below shoulder level; repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands; use of vision and hearing.
• Occasional bending - twisting at the waist; pushing/pulling; talking.
• Will use waterproof footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair net(s) and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Responsibilities

• Performs all positions on the line in Debone.
• Rotates positions as needed to include cutting breasts, wings; pulling skin; using a saw; loading product; tray packing and any other position in Debone.
• Participates as a member of the Team.
• Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
• Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
