About The Position

The Debate Sponsor is responsible for guiding students in speech and debate activities, ensuring they adhere to the guidelines of the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA). This role involves managing student accounts, tracking points, providing resources, and facilitating participation in public forum debate. The sponsor will also recruit judges, manage tournament registrations via Tabroom, coordinate student transportation to competitions, and handle NSDA dues and fees. Additionally, the sponsor will assist students in selecting or creating speech pieces, conduct weekly practices, and attend competitions, potentially including judging.

Exhibit ethical practices and be a role model to students.
Access and operate within the guidelines of the National Speech and Debate Association.

Responsibilities

Create student accounts within the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) guidelines.
Keep track of student points.
Access and provide resources for students.
Locate topics for public forum debate.
Recruit judges as needed.
Access Tabroom to register for tournaments.
Coordinate transportation for students to competitions.
Coordinate the payment of appropriate dues and local fees to the NSDA.
Help students find/create speech pieces for competition that adhere to NSDA standards.
Hold weekly practices to prepare students for competition.
Attend competitions throughout the season.
Judge during competitions as required.
