This role is responsible for assisting with protecting the health and welfare of students, maintaining a healthy and safe environment, and ensuring fair, reasonable, and consistent student discipline within the school. The Dean will assist students in establishing high standards of conduct, provide recommendations for conflict resolution, and help implement programs related to the Student Code of Conduct and attendance. This includes investigating, adjudicating, and monitoring infractions, interviewing relevant parties, scheduling conferences, reporting illegal acts, and presenting the school's case in due process proceedings. The Dean will also suspend students, manage readmissions after suspensions, monitor progressive discipline data, and assist in developing alternative interventions and policy revisions for attendance and discipline issues. Additionally, the role involves monitoring student eligibility for activities, maintaining disciplinary records, serving as a liaison with various stakeholders, making referrals for student evaluation, and collaborating with other departments to improve programs and policies. The Dean will stay current on pedagogical studies related to discipline and restorative justice, assist with professional development, serve on committees, conduct campus tours to ensure policy enforcement, and support District leadership in developing programs related to school safety and student conduct. The position requires adherence to professional conduct principles and maintaining a visible presence in the school and community.
