About The Position

Serve as liaison between staff, students, and community to maintain a positive and child-centered school climate, as well as provide administrative support within a culturally diverse environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Successful experience as a classroom teacher and/or in a support position.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively with students, parents, and community.
  • Knowledge of developmental characteristics and needs of early adolescents.
  • Knowledge of high school level philosophy and programs.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for attendance/truancy.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for discipline.
  • Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license, use of personal vehicle and proof of insurance.
  • Completion of Criminal History, Declaration form and fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) to five (5) years successful teaching or educational staff associate experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Master’s degree in education or related field.
  • Washington Administrator Credential or demonstrated interest in working towards that credential.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for special education.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement an effective system establishing and maintaining positive relations between parents and the school.
  • Create, facilitate, and implement staff, parent, and student development activities enhancing a positive school climate.
  • Develop and implement a pyramid of interventions support system for students (e.g., attendance, discipline, support teams, academic success). Work with counselors and community support groups/agencies to provide services for students.
  • Maintain and enhance the school-wide behavior management system for students while in the hallways, lunchroom, and classrooms; on buses; and when participating in athletics and curricular activities. Responsible for student discipline up to suspension.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and work effectively in a highly collaborative setting.
  • Promote shared decision-making and team work.
  • Support and supervise student/family activities during the school day and evenings, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
